Turkey Fried Rice Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 cups cooked white or brown rice
- 1 cup cooked turkey, diced
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn)
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 3 green onions, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat.
- Once hot, add the diced onion and minced garlic. Sauté until fragrant and onions are translucent.
- Add the mixed vegetables to the pan and cook for 3-4 minutes until they are tender-crisp.
- Push the vegetables to one side of the pan and add the remaining 1 tablespoon of oil. Pour the beaten eggs into the empty side and scramble until fully cooked.
- Add the cooked rice, diced turkey, soy sauce, and oyster sauce to the pan. Stir well to combine all the ingredients, ensuring the rice is evenly coated with the sauces.
- Cook for another 3-4 minutes until everything is heated through, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
- Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds, if using. Serve hot and enjoy!
Helpful Tips
For a bit of a kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes or drizzle some sriracha sauce into the mix. If you don’t have turkey, chicken or shrimp work beautifully as substitutes. Leftover rice is best for this recipe as it absorbs the flavors better without becoming mushy.
Storage Instructions
Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in a pan over medium heat or in the microwave until warmed through.
Pairing Suggestions
Pair your Turkey Fried Rice with a crisp Asian-inspired salad or a bowl of miso soup. For drinks, a chilled green tea or a light beer complements the flavors beautifully.
