- 500g beef sirloin, thinly sliced
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 1 cup broccoli florets
- 1 carrot, julienned
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon Hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
- Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
- Cooked white rice (for serving)
- In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, oyster sauce, Hoisin sauce, and cornstarch. Mix well.
- Heat a tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large cast-iron skillet over high heat, until it starts to shimmer.
- Add the thinly sliced beef to the skillet, cooking it in batches if needed. Stir-fry until beef is browned on all sides, about 2-3 minutes. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of vegetable oil, followed by the garlic and ginger. Stir-fry until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
- Add the bell peppers, broccoli, and carrots to the skillet. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until vegetables are tender-crisp.
- Return the beef to the skillet and pour in the sauce mixture. Add the beef broth and toss everything together.
- Cook for 2-3 minutes more, allowing the sauce to thicken and coat the beef and vegetables.
- Drizzle with sesame oil and give it a final toss.
- Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds, if using. Serve hot over cooked white rice.
- For extra tenderness, marinate the beef slices in a mixture of soy sauce and a pinch of baking soda for 15 minutes before cooking.
- Feel free to substitute vegetables based on what you have on hand – snow peas, bok choy, or mushrooms work wonderfully.
- If you’re short on time, pre-cut vegetables from the grocery store make this dish even quicker to prepare.
Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently in a skillet over low-medium heat or in the microwave.
This Sizzling Beef Stir-Fry pairs perfectly with a side of steamed jasmine rice or brown rice. For a complete meal, add a refreshing cucumber salad or simple miso soup.
